I was looking forward to the campout near the National Mall in D.C to get my White House Easter Egg Roll tickets this year. In previous years you camp out with friends, pop up a tent in line with the other thousands of tents in line, stay up all night talking and at around 4:30am the tickets get distrubuted.
I just read online that this year there will be no tickets passed out that way, they will be done electronically through the internet, and they were all GONE for 2009! The tickets were passed out last Thursday! Apperently the process was just as grueling, with parents sitting at their computers literally 24 hours that day hitting refresh every minute or so to get tickets. That doesn't sound fun at all!
I hope this isn't how they continue in years to come to dole the tickets out. Camping out in D.C is a tradition that started YEARS ago!!
Oh well, I guess we'll have to find local Easter egg hunts this year. Although the White House was the one I found to be the most fun! A bit crowded though, but that doesn't bother me.

- You’ve made it to my blog! My name is Ryann, I’m 29 years old and my awesome husband is fast approaching (gulp) 37. We are the parents of two great daughters. Elle is our 8 year old and Naomi (affectionately referred to as Pinky) is our 4 year old. The fifth member of our brood is a hairy one, at just over 2 years old, Loki, the German Shepard. Loki dutifully guards our house for us while we’re away… and while we’re home. He also guards our car, our toys, our bikes; he pretty much has taken it upon himself to guard every object in the confines of our property. We love the outdoors and try to be out as much as possible. When we can’t be found outside during downtime, then it’s a safe bet we can be found at the range shooting our big scary guns. I’m pretty good, although Eric is better!
ELLE
Elle is our 8 year old. She is a bookworm and loves to play at the park. She recently got her ears pierced and discovered she likes wear my dangly earrings more than her own. She’s hard to get out of bed in the morning and is fast approaching tweenhood.
PINKY
At 4 years old, Pinky is a fireball. When she is good, she is very very good but when she is bad, she is horrid! Pinky has one passion in life and that is to have a cat! She also loves any and all coloring books and looks forward to starting kindergarten in the fall.

BUMMER! That is definitely a favorite DC memory of mine. Is there wi-fi downtown? Maybe people can camp out with their laptops to show they want the old system back. =)
No way!! I would put up a protest! How lame is that? I really hope this isn't permanent because I loved camping out too!
AHHHH!!! I can't believe they have resorted to the internet. I know Obama is more electronically savvy then Bush was, but really--what is the fun in sitting at home on the internet when you could be up all night in downtown D.C.
I have good memories of last year.
