Here's one for you guys...

You friends who haved moved away I mean! I know you like to see pics of the 'gang'. SO here are a few. It snowed the other day and Megan threw a SNOW PARTY. So, it was Belle, Pinky, Afton, Parker, Mason, Toma, Anna, Chris and AJ. They all played in the snow, and had fun on the frozen lake...
(this first picture has Belle, Afton, Toma and Parker)

Then enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies at megans house!

Worst mom ever!!!

Wow, I feel so bad! Yesterday it was icy all over from the snow the day before. I was driving around with the girls and I has successfully gotten all the snow off my car... except for a giant sheet of ice on the roof. It slid around as I drove and it was making me nuts. I decided to brake really hard so it would fly off the car.
I was on our residensial street where the speed limit is 25! I had also buckled the kids in myself before we left! So, I knew they were safe and I said "Okay you guys, hold on!" as I braked a little harder then normal. usually they like when I do that!

Well, all the sudden Pinky was launched forward, smashes her face and starts to scream. It doesn't help that Belle is going "MOMMY, YOU HURT HER" "LOOK WHAT YOU DID!" I guess at some point Pinky had decided to take off her seatbelt!

Well, I pulled over and had her climb up front with me so I could survey the damage. There was blood dripping from somewhere... never a good sign! When we got home I checked her out and she had bitten down really hard and sliced both sides of her tounge in several spots. The middle of her tounge is also purple and bruised! I felt awful!!
She had tea for dinner that night, it was soothing I think on her mouth. She drank an entire mug of it in 3 minutes! Today she seems to be doing fine! But it still looks bad! Here's a pic I took of it this afternoon.

One more funny thing...

What 3 year old girl do you know who would rather play with dinosaurs then dolls? What little delicate feminine child would rather snuggle up to her several spiny, hard plastic dinosaurs then to a plush stuffed animal at night? That would be MY three year old! This is her every night! Some nights she even has MORE in bed with her then that...

Well, we did it...

We decided on a car. For some reason we had a hard time deciding on JUST the right car to buy. I think it was so difficult was because whatever car we got we intended to keep it for a long time. We've had a bad track record so far and decidedly buy new cars every 2 years or so. The trend has to stop! We bought hubbys SUV last year and had it made to his liking, knowing that we wanted to actually KEEP it for a long time! We had to do the same this time... but what car would be worthy enough to stay in the family longer then just a few years? We decided on an Acura RDX. The dealer let us take it home for a few days to really be sure we liked it. We did. We bought it last night. But we added several more options, so we will be picking it up to bring home on Saturday. I'm really excited! It has every feature we both want in a car. I feel good knowing both our cars are IT! They are the ones we'll keep and take care of and own long after they are payed off! I'll have to celebrate when we finally hit that point of no more car payments!

Chocolate dipping and Pizza making!

The girls have these little kids baking sets I've never opened...until now! They are super cute! They put on the little aprons they had in them, I melted pink chocolate into a little dish the kits had, and they dipped stuff, then set them on kids size cookie sheets. They dipped marshmallows, animal crackers, jelly hearts, strawberries and oreo cookies. They thought that was the greatest thing ever! Pinky kept scooping the chocolate into her mouth though!

Then the next day we made pizza for lunch! Again, they thought that was very cool! I bought the pizza dough in a bag from Trader Joes and split it into thirds (because I wanted my own little pizza). The crust is actually REALLY good and I highly recommend buying it! Now that I know what it's like, I plan on buying it again!

Belle also got an Easy bake Oven for her birthday, so we've been doing stuff all week in the kitchen.

Birthday!

Belle turned 7 this week! We had a girly pink party and our home was filled with little girls all day Saturday! For activities I set up two stations, and the girls rotated between them. The first was a shirt painting station. I got pink shirts from target. I bought a big hole punch in the shape of hearts and flowers, and punched them into freezer paper, which I then ironed the freezer paper onto the shirts, so the kids had a stencil. When the paint dried I peeled off the paper! For painbrushes I got makeup applicators instead! They loved that!

The next station was for pedicures! I bought all manner of pink nail polish. Each kid got their own pink pedi set (again bought at Target). So they paired up and did foot messages, filing, painting... all that good stuff!

And they got to keep their pink nail kits (and the pink shirts they made) AND Target had Valentines Day socks on sale for a buck as well... so I got each kid some pink socks. It was unique and fun.

For refreshments there was an open bar.......A CANDY BAR!

It was all super fun and the kids loved it... but this was my first and LAST time doing a party at my house. It was way too stressful, and I spend the whole next day cleaning. So, it took up my whole weekend. Plus, after all was said and done, it wasn't any cheaper then outsourcing the whole thing. In fact, I think it might have been a little bit more! But it was a success! (a success I will not be repeating!)

FUNNY

Hubby sent this to me, I laughed! it's so true!

Field Trip Friday

This week we went Ice Skating. I thought it would be fun to take Pinky... oh boy, did I instantly regret that decision the minute we stepped onto the ice! Pinky really was excited to go and I was excited to take her! She loved getting the shoes, walking around in them, checking out the snack bar... then she realized there was MORE... there was the 'ice' part of ICE skating. She saw her sister and her friends fearlessly step onto the ice and glide away. She tried joining them. But to her utter dismay, she couldn't move 2 inches out there on the ice without falling. Which is naturally where the parent (that being ME) would step in and help her, hold her hand... all that good stuff. No, she didn't want help. She insisted on doing it herself, falling, and lastly screaming at me, as if she thought I surely must be pushing her down.
So, here she is at first... sort of liking it, trying to smile and have fun...

It instantly turned to this, in literally 30 seconds of being on the ice.

She finally just left and spent the rest of the two hours we were there hanging out in the arcade.

It was FREEZING though. I expected the ice room to be cold, but the WHOLE building was cold. I think because it was 14 degrees outside! We bought several cups of hot chocolate!
Note to self... next time leave Pinky with a friend...

Now, Belle on the other hand was a skating champion! She's never been before, and I was suprised at how fast she picked it up, and loved it! She skated the whole 2 hours. Half she time she stuck by her friends and they skated together. The other half she went off by herself and tried new things. At one point she was spinning in circles. Granted they were slow and she kept falling... but she tried!!

Then after the two hours, we all went to get ice cream!

Wierdo!

What a freakin' ham this kid is!!!! Cracks me up all the time! She makes the weirdest faces for photos, LOL!

Peanut Butter

One of the girls' lessons consisted of making peanut butter the other day. Wierd... but okay...
I got a bag of peanuts. We had to have a cup of shelled peanuts. I thought it would be more fun to shell our own! I was wrong! Pinky just ate all the ones she shelled and Belle liked taking her sweet time... in between talking. So, I basically shelled them. And getting a cup of them is harder then you think.

They had fun after that though, when we stuck all the ingrediants in the blender!

Then we ate it for lunch on bread. The kids thought it was great. I didn't really like it because it tasted like mashed peanuts...on bread. While I wouldn't do it again, it WAS fun for the kids to try out once!

Gran Torino

Hubby and I saw this the other day. I HIGHLY recommend it! It was so so so good!
I cried during the last 15 minutes (it was a good cry!), and laughed through the rest of it. Here's more about it.

Update on the car

Well, that was fast. I was expecting weeks and weeks of waiting. But today USAA called hubby and told him the car was declared totaled. They said they total it if the damage is over 75% of the cars worth. We owed somewhere in the mid 20's on the car, the adjuster said they could tell we took really good care of it because it was in near perfect shape. And they stopped assessing damage at 21,000. That hadn't even touched on the engine damage yet! The 21,000 was only for the cosmetic stuff. But already was way over the 'totaling' limit. I am a little bummed and there are a few things in the trunk I need to get out before they get rid of it.

Now we need to decide what to do from here... get a new car or make due with the SUV for now. Hubby has always wanted a motorcycle...

Daily grind and good news!!!!!!!!!!!

It's back to work! The holidays are over and cleaned up. School started back up today. We had about 2 weeks off and both Belle and Pinky were anxious to get started again today. Belle is in the school room going over a review math worksheet. Pinky is putting stickers all over her 'worksheet'. Hubby had to go out of town today so it's the first day I haven't had a car! it's weird and I don't like it, LOL! I think knowing that I can't go anywhere today is making me want to go out! I feel like running to the mall or the library or something... anything! Luckily from here on out, unless hubby is out of town, I'll just drive him to work and take the car. We're lucky in that he works only about 5 minutes from the house.

Our car is still at the shop, the insurance adjuster we have assigned to us doesn't believe the estimate from the body shop, and is sending another assessment adjuster to look at it again to double check the body shops estimated price. It will be a few more days before we know anything else. We don't want to car shop until we know for sure it's totaled. And on the other hand if they can fix it all, then I'd like them to as soon as possible because I like my car and would love to have it back!

On a lighter note, we FINALLY AFTER TWO YEARS got our clearance to get sealed in the temple!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's been a long and painful process but we did it!! Since it's the middle of winter, we're thinking of doing it around Cherry Blossom time. Plus that gives people time to plan on coming out if they are able. The more the merrier... hint hint!!!!!!! While we're not going to do a 'wedding' per se, we ARE going to have a big party after, just for fun (no gifts or anything... just fun). And I'm going to rent a wedding dress so we can get wedding photos taken, because we don't have any!! YAY, I'm so excited!!!
